Student Recruitment & Orientation

Through cooperation with the Office of Admissions as well as University College's Transition and Orientation Services unit, members of the Parents Association Board have the opportunity to speak with prospective students and their families about the Association as well as life at Illinois State.

Freshman Information Nights

  • Hosted by the Office of Admissions, Freshman Information Nights provide an opportunity for admitted new beginning freshman students and their families to learn more about life at Illinois State as well as the steps that must be taken in order to enroll at the University. Typically, there are twelve meetings held throughout the state during the months of February and March. During the program, a Parents Association Board representative meets and answers questions from parents and family members.

Preview

  • Preview is the mandatory summer orientation and registration program for new beginning freshman students and their parents and family members. During the two-day program, representatives from the Parents Association Board provide a brief description of the Board as well as its purpose. In addition, Board members have an opportunity to meet with family members during an informal reception the first night of Preview. On the second day, the Board participates in the Preview EXPO by answering questions from family members as well as selling discount cards and raffle tickets, which are the Association's largest fundraisers.
